Live in the flow
Learning to live in the flow isn’t easy.
From as early as I can remember (maybe you’re like this, too), I remember trying to control how I acted, conscious of how what I did and said affected how others perceived me. I kept trying to be who I thought I was supposed to be.
What I learned was all of my attempts at controlling myself kept my authentic self, along with all it’s potential, locked deeply inside.
Then I learned about flow.
Flow is the exact opposite of control. Instead of trying to make things happen, you let things happen. Instead of working to achieve something, you allow and encourage it to enter your life.
Flow can be described as that mental state when you’re so deeply engrossed and engaged in something you feel exhilarated while doing it, fully involved and focused. The time literally speeds by.
Think of what a river is like… flowing effortlessly, not allowing rocks or tree limbs to get in its way. Joyously bubbling along. That is flow.
Living in the flow is the time when you can literally slow down to speed up. Living in the flow is when your dreams and visions come rushing towards you. Living in the flow is when your creativity is blossoming.
Finding your flow starts with being open to living your most authentic life. Finding your flow means finding your specific melody and harmony. Finding your flow opens yourself to embracing your unique magic and sharing it with the world.
So, I hear you saying “That sounds great! Where and how do I find my flow?”
First, start by finding some quiet time for yourself. If you meditate, start with that. Get yourself grounded and relaxed.
Then, pick up your pen and start writing.
At what times in your life do you feel most fulfilled?
What do you need to have or do to create a life that has as many of these moments as possible? Where your heart, mind and soul are so deeply aligned time is irrelevant. (Note: this is what I call a truly harmonious life.
Once you explore what really fills you to the core and what you need to make that happen, you can start building more flow into your life.
Flow is an essential building block in creating a harmonious life. And once you experience being in the flow, you will be forever changed, for the better.
